The goal of the Cincinnati Children’s Liberty Campus project was to create a medical facility that was a warm and engaging environment for patients, visitors and staff.Read More
To meet this goal, BHDP focused entirely around the experience of the environment, and how best to create a place where parents’ anxiety about the unknown would be removed. Where children would feel happy and comfortable. And where staff could deliver effective and efficient services.
The design process was a collaborative effort involving key users of the facility, including staff, children, and parents. With their insights, we changed the traditional hospital experience into one that is convenient, welcoming and pleasant for all. The facility features “relief areas” where children and parents can escape to indoor cafes or outdoor gardens. It also features transparent interiors that reveal inner mechanisms of the building in a fun and engaging way. These insightful details have helped attract families from all over to seek treatment for their children at the Liberty Campus location.
