Lab space on the second floor was repurposed for new organic chemistry labs and space on the third floor became new analytical chemistry labs. “Active corridors” outside the labs were integrated into the design to provide seating to promote learning outside the labs before and after classes.
Major goals developed early in the design process included the creation of safe and healthy learning environments that enable new pedagogies, a redesigned syllabus and advancements in technology while supporting collaborative learning. The project was completed within budget and an aggressive 90-day construction schedule.
