BHDP was commissioned by Airstream to develop a Site & Facility Master Plan that would allow this American icon to increase production and meet the continuous growth and global demand of their distinctively designed and easily recognizable travel trailers. Since 1952, Airstreams have been handcrafted and assembled exclusively at their production facility in Jackson, OH. Together with Airstream’s leadership team, BHDP led the effort in exploring concepts and phasing strategies to expand their existing Jackson Center production facility as well as developing concepts for a new Greenfield campus. Leveraging BHDP’s proprietary Site & Facility Master Planning standard, the team was guided through a detailed planning, evaluation, and selection process. Through this process, Airstream ultimately decided to design and construct a new travel trailer production facility on a 50-acre Greenfield site only minutes away from their current home.

Following this decision, Airstream kept the team together and commissioned BHDP to provide Architectural/Engineering design, design management and construction administration services to bring the designs to life. This new Greenfield expansion is comprised of three primary functional areas consisting of the following: Main Travel Trailer Production & Assembly Building (625,000 sf), two-level integrated Administration Office (66,600 sf), and single-level Heritage/Visitor center (22,500 sf) with adjacent exterior landscaped Travel Trailer Showroom.
