Needing to expand their Research & Development facility in Vandalia, OH to support increasing project loads and growing staff; Eurand selected BHDP to reconfigure their building and design an 11,000 sf addition. To meet the client’s need for greater team collaboration, BHDP combined laboratory areas and workspaces, and the new office layout was reconfigured in an open, column-free space to offer more daylight and greater exterior views to the staff. The interior renovation included re-configured formulation labs, designed for GMP cleanliness, safety, security and flexibility; as well as a larger break room and larger conference rooms to accommodate the staff increase. With an eye to future growth, the addition was designed to permit a later expansion of a second-floor office.

New security features were added to the entry and included two-story glazing, and new R&D labs feature glazing for views both in and out. On the south street-facing elevation, a significant architectural upgrade features a “quilted” curtain wall pattern of various shades of blue glass to add more distinction to the enlarged facility.
