To increase collaboration across the organization and provide a high level of flexibility, the solution wrapped two office floor plates around two sides of the lab space. A balance of work settings, including team areas, collaboration spaces and quiet zones were distributed throughout the building. An underfloor air distribution system, demountable walls and modulated power/data ports promote flexibility in the open work environment allowing the teams to expand and contract within the substantial floor plates.

Daylight is delivered into the large floorplates through translucent skylights that diffuse and filter direct light through multi-level openings, spreading quality light into work areas. In addition, light reflectors located within the curtainwall throw light deep into the workspace resulting in natural illumination for employees. Clerestory lighting is leveraged to deliver daylight into public and collaborative zones. Finally, a large, defining trellis element controls southern exposure while creating a signature front door to the building.

The project is certified LEED Platinum with features such as PV, Rain Water Harvesting, Geothermal, system controls, and energy monitoring and is one of Toyota’s most sustainable projects in their portfolio.
