BHDP was brought in to help expand the facility and infrastructure to meet their new manufacturing and global regulatory challenges. This also provided a creative opportunity to re-image the existing campus to one that reflects the expanded role of the company.

The solution was inspired by a desire to reflect on West-Ward Pharmaceuticals’ presence within the Midwest, their position within the global community and the requirement to present an appropriate image to employees, visitors and the general public. The comprehensive design makes reference to the region through texture, pattern and form while showcasing the clean-lined European sensibilities of the parent company and the technical nature of the manufacturing processes.

A new entrance lobby, gowning facility, cafeteria and increased storm water capacity were the primary drivers that lead to the development of a cohesive approach to the building, site and brand.

The redefined landscape uses layered bands of native grasses and regional plantings to reinforce West-Ward Pharmaceuticals’ Midwest presence, and serves to complement the composition, materiality, lighting and large scale environmental graphics that work collectively to inform the world of West-Ward Pharmaceuticals’ new identity.
