01 Challenge
BHDP partnered with Cincinnati Children’s to redesign the top floor of the 3090 Exploration Avenue building. As new research roles emerge, the demand for thoughtfully designed collaborative environments grows. The goal was clear: create a destination that energizes employees, reflects Cincinnati Children's core values, and reinforces a culture of innovation and collaboration.
02 Solution
The design team aimed to cultivate a strong sense of belonging, thoughtfully designing a space that embodies employees’ pride in being part of a greater purpose. Open, light-filled spaces encourage spontaneous interaction, while thoughtful layouts support both focused work and group collaboration.

The result is a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports over 150 employees, positioning the space as a unique model for future workplace design within the organization. The 3090 Exploration Avenue workplace has quickly become a location for teams who need to be co-located within the innovation district. It represents the next generation of healthcare research—adaptable, impactful, and empowering spaces for the people who use them every day.
The design expresses Cincinnati Children's identity through intentional use of color, shape, and graphics drawn from its branding guidelines.
Every element—from adaptable furniture to natural light—was crafted to make staff feel connected not only to their colleagues, but also to the shared mission of improving children’s health through groundbreaking research.
