01 Challenge
BHDP worked with Galen College of Nursing on the site selection, programming, and design of a new home for their growing campus and college administrative headquarters in Louisville, KY. Driven by the need for a creative space with functional value and a compelling design, Galen worked closely with BHDP to execute this new building project.
02 Solution
Occupying the majority of the new building, the Louisville campus includes a high-definition simulation center, clinical nursing learning labs, various classroom environments, an Enrollment Center, a Student Resource Center, and more. The college administrative headquarters is a modern open, flexible office space to facilitate collaboration across departments.

The light-filled space fosters innovation and promotes a healthy learning environment for students and a modern workspace for staff. The new facility enables Galen College of Nursing to grow and support its many campuses across the nation and deliver the best nursing education possible for students.
When designing Galen's new Louisville campus and corporate headquarters, visibility from the nearby highway was critical.
Galen's signature lamp logo appears directly above a circular receptionist desk in the entry—beckoning students, faculty, and staff into the state-of-the-art facility.
New high-level clinical-learning labs provide hands-on experiences for students.
Students now have access to various collaboration zones where they can study as a group or grab a huddle room for some focus time.
A New Home for Corporate Employees
The new campus is home to more than 150 administrative employees who work across Galen’s national footprint, providing service to students, faculty, and staff on additional campuses in Kentucky, Florida, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee, and online. In this new facility, staff can gather in a warm and inviting break room to get away from their desk or have a casual conversation by the fireplace.
Galen's "Pure Nursing" Philosophy
Through the use of storytelling and visual narratives, our firm helped Galen to distinguish themselves in the world of nursing education. A collection of consistent visual assets are leveraged on the campus, including motivating and encouraging phrases placed outside learning and simulation labs and the use of the Louisville skyline near a classroom and community events space—promoting Galen’s support of the local community.
New Campus Amenities = Added Convenience
Students, staff, and faculty can now access an on-site café and grab-and-go section on the first floor of the facility. Students can grab a seat in a booth and get some studying done, while staff and faculty can have lunch with peers at one of the larger high-top tables.
