General Classroom Building Renovation
01 Challenge
The General Classroom Building, located on the Beaver Campus of Penn State University, has received few upgrades since its original construction in 1968. BHDP was commissioned to initially conduct a feasibility study to identify costs associated with a complete renovation of the building, evaluate the adequacy of the building for its current program, identify needed changes, and address exterior features such as windows, entrances, and canopies.
02 Solution
Following the study, BHDP was engaged to renovate the General Classroom Building into an inviting, intellectually inspiring, flexible, and collaborative learning environment focused on student success, inclusion, and diverse pedagogy that fosters the use of best practices. Optimized classrooms, common spaces for collaboration, and interior transparency place education on full display throughout the space.
