In 2009, BHDP was commissioned to provide master planning and architectural design services in support of P&G's “Grow Africa” initiative. This greenfield manufacturing facility in Lagos, Nigeria represents Phase I of a multi-phase master plan to localize production in Africa’s most populous country.
In collaboration with ARUP Engineering, Blue Scope Butler Building, and Bilfinger-Berger Nigeria GmbH, BHDP successfully guided P&G through the development of land search and selection criteria, land due diligence, site development studies, front end and detailed architectural design, construction execution inquiry, and constructability reviews.
Size 65,000 SQM

The Lagos project was executed in strict accordance with P&G’s Global Plant Facility Design Standards. Further, adopting the use of BIM technology during the front end and detailed design phases proved invaluable providing improved visualization during client reviews, multi-discipline design coordination, clash detection, and generation of detailed material bills of quantities in CSI Master Format for use during construction inquiry. As part of their commitment globally to preserving and sustaining the environment, this site is also P&G’s first LEED Silver Certified manufacturing facility in Africa.
