Applied Gene and Cell Therapy Center
01 Challenge
With an aging cGMP facility in its existing research building, Cincinnati Children’s needed a new, larger state-of-the-art facility focused on the efficient production of gene and cell therapy products to meet the increased patient demand. With extensive experience in designing multiple cGMP facilities, BHDP has become a trusted partner in the design and renovation of research laboratories for the Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation (CCRF).
02 Solution
The fully supported facility centers around 12 clean rooms, including seven cell therapy production clean rooms and five viral vector production clean rooms. Laboratory spaces include organoids, cell culture, PD, PCR, analytical, and microbiology labs. The team also designed support spaces, including a walk-in cold room, metrology, cryo-storage, controlled-temperature warehousing, autoclaves, biowaste, and quarantine rooms.
