01 Challenge

BHDP collaborated with Galen College of Nursing to design a new home for their largest student population in San Antonio, TX. Driven by their need for a centralized building to accommodate their campus, this project emerged as their “New Flagship” in standards of academic and administrative building design.

02 Solution

The 100,000 SF facility combined two existing buildings, merging to create a strong central location for the Galen brand within the community and provide increased resources and collaboration opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. The building houses 17 classrooms, 10 clinical learning labs, seven simulation rooms and one virtual reality simulation room, cementing its legacy as the largest and most innovative Galen campus. The focal point of the building, the “Path of Illumination” staircase, visualizes a nurse’s journey from inspiration to expertise and provides a place for collaboration among individuals.
