BHDP Earns DBIA National Award of Merit for University of Cincinnati Chemistry Building

We are honored to announce that our renovation of the University of Cincinnati’s Chemistry Building has won a National Award of Merit in the Educational Facilities category from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). The DBIA recognizes the teams and projects that showcase a commitment to excellence and the use of design-build best practices. 

This project included 63,000 SF of renovated space as well as a 144,000-SF addition, creating a 207,000-SF state-of-the-art academic and research facility. The building includes teaching laboratories, classrooms, offices, and collaboration spaces for students. 

This project relied on trust and open communication amongst the team in collaboration with the owners. Through regular meetings, site-walks, and shared access to schedules, design documents, and QA/QC checklists, the team had the information needed to respond quickly to new discoveries and identify further improvements.
