Centennial Field House
01 Challenge
Mount St. Joseph University and BHDP have partnered to create a new, state-of-the-art recreational facility for their students, faculty, and staff. Based on their collective vision, “Transformation 2025”, the university needed an upgraded space that better suits the needs of students and supporting the well-being of every person that walks on their campus.
02 Solution
The new building’s main component is a field house that supports indoor track and field, baseball, golf, and other field-sport practices and events, including spectator seating throughout to better accommodate competition. A gymnasium, locker rooms, and a multipurpose room were implemented to provide varied areas for fitness. The building, designed as a green building, incorporates a photovoltaic solar array roof and strategically utilizes topography to best support the challenging site slope. A two-story atrium uniquely descends into the lower level with a separate student entrance for easier access.
