FORUM Credit Union Celebrates Ribbon Cutting at Broad Ripple Branch
FORUM Credit Union opened a new branch last month in Broad Ripple, downtown Indianapolis. Originally a Hardee’s before being converted into a bank in 2003, BHDP Architecture helped design and refresh the freestanding building to better reflect FORUM’s evolving brand and the member experience they envisioned.
“When FORUM Credit Union began renovating its Broad Ripple branch, the goal was to transform more than just the physical space,” says Ally Mattingly, Interior Designer. “The project became an opportunity to rethink the traditional banking environment and create a branch centered on connection, flexibility, and community presence."
Leading a visioning session with key stakeholders, the design team developed a guiding vision statement focused on creating an inviting, responsive branch that reflects FORUM’s dedication to the community while fostering trust through transparency and comfort. BHDP integrated environmental graphic design (EGD) opportunities into the design from the beginning rather than applying graphics afterward. Graphics and messaging were thoughtfully woven throughout the environment, including branded artwork, regional location tags, privacy vinyl, and messaging integrated into gathering spaces.
Experiential graphics welcome customers into the lobby.
To challenge conventional banking layouts, the design team also explored concepts that reconsidered private offices, open work areas, and member engagement spaces. The renovated branch now includes a member experience center, a beverage station, flexible meeting space, a welcome kiosk, a member bar, and four consulting offices.
